Can I clear stock variances during a Stocktake?
No, Stock Variances can not be cleared during a Stocktake.
In order to close a Stocktake the final Variance needs to be $0.00.
There will be two scenarios:
Scenario A. Beverage Stores should not have a Variance. This is when the Variance needs to be issued out to another Stock Location as a Stock Transfer. Please check out Step 7 (a) in this article for more information, Month End Process & Processing Stock takes.
Scenario B. The Variance in a Stock Location, (other than Beverages Stores), will be the 'Cost of Goods' sold. This Variance needs to be issued out to the Location as a 'Variation'. Please check out Step 7 (b) in this article, Month End Process & Processing Stock takes.
Note: Once the Beverage Store Variance is zeroed out and the Variances for the other Stock Locations have been distributed, run the Stock Variation report as a normal export into a 'CSV' format, and also as a PDF format, as you will need to send this report to the Finance team.
